Hello ladies!! I've been asked to write a little something to introduce myself and to discuss how I got into planning. I'm a married mother of four and a Grammy to a one year old grandson and one that it due in September. I am an admin in now two planner groups and run a group page also. I have also just been selected to be on the PR team of a company that is starting production very soon and should be launched by September. I love the thought of using my imagination and creating a tangible product!
From a very young age, I always had some type of planning system. Okay, it was always the free little purse calendars that the bank gave away, but I always had one! It wasn't until a little over 30 years ago that I discovered "planners". I was working for a large company who taught the Franklin Covey time keeping system. We were all issued a very generic black FC planner with a very cheap, plastic like cover. Along with the planner came the Franklin Covey catalog. I started looking at it and fell in love! Leather, big rings, purses! It was too much! I knew I wasn't going to be happy with the cheap version of the FC, I had to have a nice one. Some of us girls decided to place an order for a nicer planner and a month later, the order came. I opened the box to a beautiful teal Nappa leather planner with 7 two inch gold rings and my initials in gold on the front! I highly doubt that I got any work done that day! The other ladies kept asking to see mine and by the end of the day, most had ordered nice ones too! I kept that planner for 25 years until I graduated to a Monarch size black leather one with a strap. I don't need one that size now, but it was probably the most useful planner I ever owned. It was a briefcase and planner in one!
During a move, I lost both planners and bought a nice FC from a thrift shop. One day, I was trolling on Facebook
and found a planner site. The addiction came roaring back! I hadn't heard of Filofax or Kikki K. I hadn't heard of six ring or personal binders. I was hooked again. I bought an antique rose Filofax person Finsbury and and ice blue Kikki K personal. From there, its been a planner storm of Kate Spades, Filofaxes in every size and Kikki K's abound ! Then I noticed Traveler's notebooks. I prefer Field Note and Passport size Fauxdori's. The Standard and A5 sizes are very similar to a personal size 6 ring binder. The A6 Fauxdori is a bit too wide for me.
I recently bought a pearl color Recollections planner which I should be getting any day. I've heard they sometimes have ring problems so I hope this one doesn't. My baby is also coming soon: a pink matte Filofax Domino. I love Dominos!!!! They are like 6 ring binders and Fauxdori's wrapped up in one!!! However, I received the nicest planner that I've ever owned from Pistou Pioupiou. A black Filofax compact Regency. This is, by far, the finest planner I've owned. This classic black, (similar to alligator), shiny leather planner is almost regal. The personal inserts fit nicely into it, but It is slimmer and less wide than a personal planner. It slips nicely into any size purse that I own. It with two open side pockets where I can put money or stamps. I put a crystal Chanel planner charm on it and it looks like a million bucks!
I'm so glad to be in this group and in the planner society as well. There is a special connection that we all share. I hope that you all can find as much joy as I have. Enjoy the journey.......
